The National Environment and Community Biosecurity RD&E Strategy (NECBRDES) is being updated.

The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions will be running a series of online fora to enable participation in the revision of the strategy. Firstly, there will be a series of 2-hour, sector-based focus groups between the 9-11th February, 2021, to discuss biosecurity RD&E needs in each sector.

The discussion from these sessions will feed into a larger interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral workshop to be held on the 25th of February, 2021, when the revised strategy will be developed. More information on this even can be found here.

The FOCUS GROUPS will explore (in relation to each sector):

  • What environmental biosecurity means;
  • How an environment and community biosecurity RD&E Strategy can benefit your sector;
  • Which aspects of environment and community biosecurity differ from other areas of biosecurity (e.g. agriculture) and which are the same;
  • What parts of the vison, goals, aims and objectives of the original strategy should be retained;
  • What priorities within your sector need to be captured in the strategy, and
  • How to make this strategy work with the other national strategies (animal, plant and marine).
