Gonacon was originally developed and is available in the US as a feral deer contraceptive.
After considerable R&D investment from 2007 through to 2016 in assessing the efficacy of GonaCon immunocontraception vaccine formulation on kangaroos and wallabies (macropods) in Australia, the registration of GonaCon as an injectable multi-year ‘single dose’ contraceptive agent for macropods is currently being prepared for submission to the APVMA.

April 2019 update:
Application for a Pre Application Assessment (PAA) was submitted in November 2018 and we are now awaiting response from the APVMA.
The full APVMA application is currently on hold pending the outcomes of the PAA however we do not believe that there will be any impediment to lodging the full application for registration once the outcomes of the PAA are known.
