WeedRemeed unites multiple technologies: drone imagery backed by software to detect and geolocate priority plant species. Learn about Artificial Intelligence colour detection, Machine-Learning and secure data processing and storage.
How much does it cost to use WeedRemeed?
Usage is a via a subscription model teamed with pre-paid usage credits.
A monthly subscription secured a variable storage package, starting from 100GB.
WeedRemeed users will also need to pre-purchase compute credits which are used to process workflows within the platform.

I am interested in WeedRemeed but don’t have the capacity to create models and run workflows.
No worries! CISS in partnership with 2Pi Software can develop detection models and process your data for you.
Will WeedRemeed be updated to improve user experience?
Yes: WeedRemeed has been released as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) but further software developments have been identified which will improve useability and user experience.
What happens with my data once I upload it to WeedRemeed?
WeedRemeed is hosted on an Amazon Web Servers (AWS) cloud-based system. Data storage is maintained within Australia to protect data sovereignty.
Any data uploaded to the WeedRemeed platform is stored securely within the user’s/organisation’s account.
Importantly, organisations can share data sets and detection models securely with other users if they wish. They can also make these publicly available if they choose.
All data will be completely removed from the WeedRemeed system if the storage subscription is not renewed after a three-month period. Users will be issued subscription renewal alerts during that period.
What models are available to detect target species?
WeedRemeed utilises either AI colour detection or a Machine Learning Model to identify target plant species within drone imagery and geolocate them.
AI colour detection compares the drone image set to a customised colour swatch.
Machine learning YOLO models are trained on an annotated image set which the algorithm learns from to detect target plant species.
These models can be used in isolation or together to get a better overall detection rate.
When testing my models do I need to use my whole dataset?
No: WeedRemeed has tools to subset your data and allow users to test models with small image sets to reduce costings.
Will I be warned how many compute credits my workflows use before starting?
Yes: a pop-up window will appear warning users how many credits will be consumed before starting a workflow sequence.
Can WeedRemeed process large amounts of data to ensure landscape coverage is achieved?
Yes: WeedRemeed has been designed to process large amounts of data by packaging data and processing it simultaneously.

Who built WeedRemeed?
WeedRemeed has been developed by the Centre for Invasive Species Solutions (CISS) in collaboration with technology partners 2Pi software. The project was funded through an Australian Government Saving Native Species Program (Threat innovation grants).
