Start date: 27 June 2024
Completion date: 14 December 2026
Project code: M-306
Species/Threats:
Feral pigs
Summary
This project supports the National Feral Pig Action Plan 2021-2031, aiming to reduce the damage feral pigs cause to Australian agriculture and other assets.
It will help pork producers and their communities adopt better management and monitoring techniques to improve control programs.
Objectives
The objectives of the project are to:
- Establish resources that highlights potential disease transmission risks from feral pigs to the commercial pork industry. A management group will oversee content development, data privacy, and approvals. These resources, including presentations, factsheets, and videos, will be shared at industry meetings and online to raise awareness, support biosecurity changes, and assist producers with managing feral pig risks.
