The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions WildDogScan monitoring and management resource now contains more than 125,000 entries of wild dogs, attacks, and management actions. The free resource continues to provide a valuable tool for farmers, landholder groups, wild dog controllers and biosecurity groups across Australia.
FeralScan coordinator and NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) researcher, Peter West, says WildDogScan has focused on continuous improvement based on input from people across Australia.
“It is easy to use and one of the most beneficial tools for monitoring, mapping and managing wild dogs,” Mr West said.
“In the past year, we have seen a surge in the use of WildDogScan by people who want to alert their neighbours and local biosecurity authorities about wild dogs.
“Biosecurity groups too have increased their use of the resource. In NSW alone, more than 340 Local Land Services staff are now signed up to use the program.”
