Completion date: 20 December 2025
Project code: M-305
Species/Threats:
Feral pigs
Summary
The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions (CISS) is partnering with Australian Pork Limited (APL) to develop a feral pig monitoring plan for Isis Downs and Wrotham Park Station in Queensland. Using a CSIRO-developed app, the project will track feral pig populations.
Objectives
The objectives of this project are to:
- Create management plans after site visits and discussions with property managers. A CSIRO app will be used to track feral pig sightings, capturing data such as date, time and GPS location.
- Analyse the collected data to understand pig population changes and the effectiveness of current management practices. On-ground staff will receive training to ensure effective implementation of management techniques. The project will be conducted at two sites, Isis Downs and Wrotham Park Station. This approach will help assess and improve feral pig management strategies.
